An Engineer's Holiday Redux

Three years ago we stopped at Waterford, NY, and visited the locks at the start of the Erie Canal. You can read about it here: http://www.dee-liberations.blogspot.com/2009/08/engineers-holiday.html

Today we saw the same locks from the inside, on a river/canal  cruise.  Very cool.

If I ever figure this new tablet pc out, I may post more. :)

Try a Little Kindness

I was just invited to a new group on Facebook, Kindness Grows ~  30 Day Challenge. The idea is to perform a random act of kindness every day for 30 days.

I've already invited some of my friends, but if I didn't invite you, just ask me. Or go to the group and request to join.

With all the sadness and bad things happening in the world, most recently the terrible acts of one crazy person in Aurora, Colorado, I want to do whatever small things I can to make the world a better place.

How about you?

Broken

Update on my broken wrist:

Last week I went back to the Hand Center in Philly and got my stitches out. They took a new x-ray, left, in which you can clearly see the breaks, yes, that's plural, and the stainless steel plate in my wrist.

The good news is, they custom-made me a nice, lightweight splint that attaches with Velcro. I take it off to shower and to do the exercises they gave me.

So all is going well. I start physical therapy next week. Maybe if I'm lucky I'll be all healed up in a month or so.

Yay!
